Real Life Supplementary Angle

One word led to another for a good 2011

Sallustio, early in his "Conspiracy of Catiline " praises the youth of the early days of Rome, he felt more satisfying to do things of glory rather than to frequent prostitutes and parties (in scortis atque conviviis ), because those young at that time compared with his contemporaries, like Catullus for example. Tell
Catullus, in his poem (X, 1-4), Varo's friend invited him to go from her pretty scortillum. Strictly speaking students attending scortilla is a scortator (term Horace: see Book II, Satire V, at 75).
I wonder if those in distress these days for what he called attacks on his private life is proud to belong (to this) the same group of men who belonged to Catullus. Please, no morality, but it was not seventy Catullus and what is even more amazing, was not the responsibility of the Government of a State.
(All references to people, places and real circumstances is purely intended).
